Which fish to release?

Fish I would (and did) release as it appeared to me to be full of eggs:

Someone might've already caught this fish again and cooked her up but I guess I feel like I'm doing my part to help the fishery by returning the pre-spawn females, armchair biologist that I am  .  Don't read anthing into this, mostly it's just to post a pic of a nice FAT Missouri eye.  We kept a few to that were positively FULL of FAT, great to see healthy fish.

I'm pretty sure I caught that one the other day and she did taste delicious!

Oh, and nice pic by the way!
The kill is the satisfying, indeed essential, conclusion to a successful hunt. But, I take no pleasure in the act itself. One does not hunt in order to kill, but kills in order to have hunted. Then why do I hunt? I hunt for the same reason my well-fed cat hunts...because I must, because it is in the blood, because I am the decendent of a thousand generations of hunters. I hunt because I am a hunter.- Finn Aagard

I am pretty sure I caught and released that same fish on a tributary of Devils Lake.
Are you sure you were on the Missouri?
Nice fish anyway.

They're almost all full of eggs right now. We've been releasing the big gals but just being full of eggs isn't saving most of them right now. I'd be starving if I was only keeping the males. I think out of 100 fish this year in our boat about 5 have been males.
